Embers of Hope Mission

The Embers of Hope program was created as a public outreach component to the Axes in Arms Family Outreach Program, which is a program designed to assist employees of the Tucson Fire Department and Fire Communications in times of crisis. 
During the development process of the Axes in Arms program it became apparent that finding a sustainable way to reach out to the community and provide assistance to others should be a primary focus. 
As a result the Embers of Hope fund has been established to provide children suffering from life threatening illnesses with a gift of hope. The financial gift provided will make it possible to bring the child’s dream to life. This experience will provide a much needed emotional break from the rigors of treatment and the day to day challenges faced by the child in their fight for life.  
 
 
Help Us Make a Child’s Dream a Reality
 
 
The Selection Process
· The Tucson Fire Department will select children in the community who are suffering from serious illness to participate in the program.
·  Any TFD employee may refer a child that they think would benefit from this experience. 
· The Axes in Arms executive committee will verify documentation of the child’s illness and grant funds on a case by case basis.
 
Presenting the Gift
· The Embers of Hope Fund will establish a financial resource that will be used to bring a sick child’s dream to life. 
· Selected children will get to visit a fire station and receive the title of “Honorary Firefighter” for the day. During this visit the child’s family will be presented with a check that they can use to finance a trip, experience, or gift of the child’s choosing. 
· Participating sponsors will be invited to attend the check presentation.
 
 
How You Can Participate
 
You can help us spread hope to a child suffering from a life threatening illness by pledging a charitable contribution to the Embers of Hope Fund. Together we can make a child’s dream a reality and provide them with an uplifting experience that will help make the road to recovery an easier one to travel.
